Swett, 88, of Waterville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, after a long illness at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville. Philenease was born in Bangor on March 26, 1921, the daughter of Thomas and Edith (Boles) McLain. She married Alvin F. Swett and shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 1994. She was employed with Huhtamaki until her retirement, giving 28 years of service. She was a hard worker and loved keeping her house clean and cooking for her family. Her grandchild and great-grandchildren were the love of her life. Philenease was predeceased by her husband; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by her son, Clarence McLain and his wife, Allison, of Waterville; grandson, Kevin McLain and his wife, Kimberly; two great-grandsons, Kyle and Keenan McLain, all of Fairfield; sister, Marjorie Tracy of Waterville; sister-in-law, Shirley McLain of Benton; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at the old Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. The family would like to give special thanks to the Moonlight Bay Unit at Lakewood Continuing Care Center for their compassion and care.
