She was born in Stokes County to Gabriel F. Lawson and Kate Robertson Lawson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, "Nick" Bowles; sisters, Eunice Angle, Vivian Lawson, Thelma Alley, Rachel Johnson, and JoAnn Bennett; and her brother Woodrow Lawson. She is survived by her son Steve Bowles of the home; granddaughter Beverly (Robert) Paschall of Smithfield, N.C.; grandson James Andrew (Molly) Bowles of Reidsville, N.C.; and brother Eugene Lawson of Mooresville, N.C. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, three great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. A graveside service and interment was conducted at King Memorial Park on August 1, 2009.
