Butler The Index Journal Newspaper, Greenwood, SC February 3, 1973, pg 5 William Martin Butler, 88, of Laurel Extension died today at Self Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. HE was born in Saluda County, Oct. 7, 1884, a son of the late Milledge and Dora Griffin Butler, both natives of Saluda County. He was a retired plumber and had lived most of his life in Greenwood, was a member of the First Baptist church and the Baraca class of the church. His wife, Mrs. Annie Lou Butler, died in 1965. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Fannie Butler, Edgefield. Funeral services will be held from Blyth Funeral Home Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. James A. Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Harold Williams, Robert May, M. L. Nevit, Grover and Jimmy Butler and Watson Padgett, Honorary escort will be members of the Baraca class of First Baptist Church.
