As far as I can tell Thomas Bowles (Will 1783) is the grandson of John Bowles. Thomas lived next to his brother William in Hanover into the 1740's. Thomas bought land in Henrico Co in 1745. In 1751 Valentine Bowles was living Hanover Co where Thomas had lived and Widow Bowles was living where William Bowles had been living. I don't know if this Valentine Bowles is the same Valentine Bowles listed in Hanover Co in 1779. But he could be? I don't think he was married to Deborah Tinsley. I think Deborah Tinsley was married to William Bowles and the Widow listed where William Bowles had lived. I find Deborah listed in Hanover Co several times between 1751 and 1779 with land and paying taxes. I don't think she would be doing either if married to Valentine Bowles in that time period. I think Deborah was a grandmother of Thomas Bowles born 1761, not his mother. Who is this Thomas Bowles the son of Thomas Bowles who wrote his will 1783 in Henrico Co.? I believe he is Thomas Bowles who died about 1799-1800 married to Jemima in Hanover Co. Thomas Bowles of Hanover, died interstate circa 1800, possessed of a considerable personal estate. Survived by his widow, Jemima, who was his administrator. She is since descessed and Peter Bowles is her Admr., and the Admr of Thomas Bowles. Thomas and Jemima left issues; together with issue of former marriage. 1. Thomas Bowles d. 1817, Hanover Co,VA 2. Peter Bowles 3. *Amelia H. (Bowles) m. Ara P. Gardner 4. Isaac Bowles 5.
