News from Cave City, 4 Jan 1899: Fred GARNETT is visiting relatives in Louisville & Jeffesonville this week. ** Walter MARCUM & wife of Nashville are visiting the family of Dr A T PARKER. ** Dan MARTIN left last Tuesday for Richmond where he attends Central University. ** Mrs Julia REEVES of Memphis TN is visiting her sisters, Mrs O F CURD and Mrs John MELON. ** Wm M WILSON Jr has moved here from Bearwallow and is living in the WALKER property near the PARKER Hotel. ** Henry MONROE bought a fine new residence near the reservoir just erected by J H BYBEE. ** Jerome MADDOX sold six mules to B B DUKE and J B JEWELL and to J H PEDIGO.** Onyx beds discovered a few miles west of town; of fine quality and a large quantity ** B F LOCKE and J M REYNOLDS received yesterday from Southern Alabama a pair of blood hounds; the sire of these dogs ran down and caught the notorious Rube BURROWS. They will be ready for service as soon as they are rested and accustomed to their new keepers.
