Chester Badgett. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Durham was born in Taylor County on June 24, 1891, the son of the late Luther and Myrtie Smith Durham and died at his home at 502 Redman Ave., Thursday, Dec. 22, following a long illness. He had just returned from Rosary Hospital about two hours prior to his death. He had been employed at Hayes Shoe Store just prior to his illness. Before that time he was employed at the Campbellsville Post Office, retiring as Assistant Postmaster a few years ago. He was Past Commander and member of Post 82, American Legion, a member of the Pitman Lodge 124, Taylor Chapter No. 90, and Commandery at Lebanon. He was an active member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was united in marriage on April 11, 1920 to Miss Mattie Mudd, who survives. Also surviving are the following children: Captain James O. Durham,! Jr., with the U.S. Army in Germany; William D. Durham, of Greensburg, Ky.; Mrs. J. R. (Barbara Jean) King, Lexington, Ky.; Mrs. W. M. Munford, Jr., Mrs. William A. (Carolyn) Wethington; and Misses JoAnne and Lucy Durham, all of Campbellsville. Also 10 grandchildren. Active pallbearers were T. G. Layton, Ralph Burress, George Marple, Dennis Smith, Clyde Williams, and Virgil Bowles. Honorary bearers were Omer Dearen, Paul Coop, Bill Toby, E. Smith, Tom Eager, R. S. Bailey, Ray Smith, R. L. Kerr, Earl Netherland, Holland Moore, Robinson Young, John Garrison, E. W. Willock, J. Carl McCubbin, Robert Hayes, Henry Bost, and Wilson Mitchell.
