Newton, 65, with the Rev. Phillip Hutchins in charge of the service. Mr. Newton was born June 3, 1891 in Taylor County, Kentucky, son of the late D. A. Newton and Art Spurling Newton. He died Thursday, March 14, at 12:00 p.m. in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Cox near Acton. He had been in declining health for the past two years. On January 21, 1926, he united in marriage to Netti Page Newton and to this union four children were born. Mr. Newton was a member of the St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, and had been a farmer in the Spurlington Community where he was born and raised. Survivors include his wife and four children who are: Mrs. Thomas (Eleanor) Cox, Route 1; Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Ford, Campbellsville; Sgt. Jerome Newton, U. S. Army, Puerto Rico; and Pfc. Ollie C. Newton, U. S. Army, Germany; one brother, Clarence Newton, of Spurlington; and five sister! s, Mrs. Ira Reed, Campbellsville; Mrs. Cora (O.C.) Wright, Gary, Indiana; Miss Mallie Newton, Gary, Indiana; Mrs. Frank Sexton, Gary, Indiana; Mrs. Marvin (Flossie) Read, of Elizabethtown. Mr. Newton had one brother deceased, John J. Newton. Pallbearers were Theodore Bowles, Brent Hall, Abe Puryear, Everett Harmon, Lefrey Colvin, and Jack Hill. Burial was in the Spurlington Church Cemetery.
