Marshall Black, Rev. Arthur Upchurch and Rev. David Gosser in charge. Interment was in Union Ridge Church Cemetery. Mr. Bowles was born in the Palestine community of Taylor County on October 11, 1870, the son of the late James David and Nancy Jane Newton Bowles and died at his home on April 27, 1961, after a long illness. He was united in marriage in 1896 to Miss Sarah Emily Yates who preceded him in death in 1943. Survivors include four children: Mrs. Clyde Eubank, Ligonier, Ind.; Theodore Bowles, Route 2, City; Kelly Bowles, Ligonier, Ind.; and Shelby Bowles, Rome City, Ind.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Frances Franklin of Route 2, City. Pallbearers were Everett Harmon, Ray Bowles, Jack Hill, Ike Sullivan, Marvin Wise, and Robert Wise.
