Hi, I am new to the list. I am interested in all Benjamin Bowles of Virginia. Can you tell me where in Virginia your Benjamin is from and if you know who his parents are. After the Rev. War so many were moving to KY, TN, and westward I am trying to keep track. My line is Benjamin Bowles of Cumberland Co. VA whose son Elisha (b. c 1758) md Elizabeth Chapman, also of Cumberland Co. VA - they migrated to Bedford Co. VA.
Welcome to the Bowles list! Maybe with your additions, we'll be closer to piecing the many Benjamins into a larger and more accurate picture. Unfortunately, the reason I added only that little snippet about the Benjamin in my line is because I'm not yet totally certain who his parents were. We can make some pretty good guesses, but we're still looking for the pieces of evidence which will tie everyone in their respective lines together and erase our doubts. We keep chipping away at the various Benjamins, no matter where we happen to find them, and hope that our bits of information will eventually fall into place. There were quite a few Benjamin Bowles (of many spellings) in that general part of the world and it's difficult to sort out which one was which. Would you be willing to add to our pieces of knowledge by telling us all where you found evidence of your Benjamin? A land document? A Revolutionary War document? Best possibility of all: a will naming his wife and all his children? Can you tell us if your Benjamin had any other children, and if so, who they married and where they lived? Maybe with a few more pieces, we can get a clearer picture of your areas of Virginia. Very best, Linne >Hi, >I am new to the list.
