===================================================================== Match: Bowles Source: QUAKER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com From: Shari Holcomb <sharih@rocketmail.com> Subject: Newfound possibilities for our WEBB and Martin Ancestors: Requesting Aid Hello to the list, Recent matches to our WEBB ancestor DNA have led to several matches and those have now led us to a book in North Carolina. The book is handwritten 1875 quill ink pen book, entitled "Westward We Go" by a Thomas N. Andrew at a Quaker Historical Library in Edenton, North Carolina (it is apparently hand written and the only copy of this book that exists) that details a group of families from Ablemarle County, NC (including Webbs, Bowles, Blaylocks, Reas, Evans, and Wilkersons, among others) who went west in the 1810's. A James Webb (b. 1770) who married a Susan Brinkley (died before 1838) went to Lincoln County, Tennessee. This is apparently the one that our cousin Dave found who in 1819 bought the land his ancestor Hiram Webb lived on later in Lincoln County. James and Susan had several kids and these are detailed so it seems that Hiram is brother to our Joseph and therefor reason enough for a perfect DNA match... Here is where I need a Friend's help out in NC... Since the book is so very fragile, it may not be handled by a person for researching and copying or have its picture taken... We would like to have someone transcribe this book so that we can actually know more about what it may contain... Would someone be interested in doing this for us? It would be vastly appreciated and we would be willing to provide pay or donate for this service... We are also still seeking a marriage or any data for our Joseph Webb and Mariah Barbara Martin. ...Joseph was born around 1798-1809 prob ablemarle, NC and Mariah B. was born 1809 kentucky and would have married around the 1830's and their first known child John W. was born 1835 AL. They would migrate on into Lincoln cty Tn. It is now possible with the finding of this book that they were Quakers... Thank you Shari
