I am researching into early settlers, some of you will have already made contact with me... I am especially interested in some BOWLES graves up there.. some maybe unmarked meaning no headstone, but the surname is on the Plans I have from first recorded burial in 1866 not a Bowles! I have met a local in Carterton who is related, and I know he would like to know more on his ancestors, has no computer, so have offered my assistance.. Two Bowles on Carterton War Memorial.. WW1 are related to him.. Percival McLaren Bowles. son of George and Mary Ann Bowles. Carterton. Jesse Bowles same family.. Person I know in Carterton has the names of Watkins in his family as well as Bowles and Gordon. If this is a guide for anyone... I will check the plans and see what dates are next to the names...as only surnames are on the plans... I am also researching the cemetery....very interesting too! Many thanks Adele Sec.
