Western Mail Saturday April 3rd 1926. A young man, Edward GRIFFITHS, of Caerleon, who recently left the local hospital after sustaining a broken leg, the result of a motor-cycle accident, essayed his first ride again on Good Friday. He had not ridden more than half a mile from his home when he collided with a car. As a result he was terribly cut about the face and head, and sustained a fractured wrist. Miss Maisie HERBERT, one of the injured in the bus accident at Beaufort on Wednesday night, is slightly better, but it has been found necessary to amputate her injury arm. The district coroner (Mr. W.R. DAUNCEY) sitting with a jury, opened the inquest on Thursday on Mary Ann SMITH, who died as a result of injuries sustained in the bus accident. Only evidence of identification was taken, and the inquest was adjourned until Tuesday, April 13. Mr. Anthony Tregerthen THOMAS, a native of Llanelly, and a familiar figure in the tin-plate town, who at the age of 91 died a few days ago at the residence of his daughter in Pontypridd. Mr. THOMAS was a well-known local artist, and many of his paintings of old Llanelly- when a small village in 1854- are left as a lasting memento of "A.T.T." (head and shoulder photo). The death occurred from meningitis of Mrs. Sybil D. STEWART, wife of Mr. Robert B. STEWART, at her home, Belmont, Colchester-avenue, Penylan, Cardiff. Mr. STEWART holds an appointment under the Cambrian Combine and is a well-known Cardiff docksman. Mrs. STEWART was only ill on Sunday. She was a well-known member of the Whitchurch Golf Club, and her kindly and sunny nature caused her to be much esteemed by her fellow-members. Mrs. STEWART was a native of the Rhondda, but had lived many years in Cardiff. The funeral will take place to-day (Saturday). The death took place at Penarth on Friday morning of Mrs. Mary MEAZEY, the wife of Mr. Thomas MEAZEY, formerly sanitary inspector under the Penarth District Council. She was 69 years of age and had resided in Penarth for about 50 years. She is survived by a husband, three sons, and two daughters. A large attendance at the funeral of Mr. D.H. DAVIES, M.E., of Maesgwyn, Miskin, Mountain Ash, included Messrs. A.A. JENKINS, M.E. Thomas THOMAS, W.J. RICHARDS (representing the Cwm Cynon Colliery), David WILLIAMS, Lemuel COBLEY, D.M. THOMAS, (Merthyr Vale), Harry MORRIS, J. JORDAN (Aberdare), Richard OWEN, D.H. THOMAS, D.J. LEWIS, M.E., J.O. JONES, M.E., Richie MORGAN, M.E., D.F. MORGAN, M.E., Ed. DAVIES, Dr. H.B. PIERCE, and Dr. Gwilym L. PIERCE. The officiating ministers were the Revs. J.H. EVANS (Bethel, Miskin), Isaac BEVAN (Pontnewynydd), J.L. THOMAS, W. DAVIES (Soar, Mountain Ash), J. Francis JONES (Nazereth) and J. Ll. DAVIES, B.A. (vicar of Miskin). Interment took place at Maesyrarian Cemetery, Mr. W.G. BOWLES, an old friend paid high tribute to Mr. DAVIES' exemplary life. The chief mourners were Messrs. David John DAVIES (solicitor), Emrys Haydn DAVIES (sons), Henry DAVIES, James DAVIES, and Samuel DAVIES (brothers), Evan THOMAS (brother-in-law), H.L. DAVIES, D.J. DAVIES, Idwal DAVIES, D.T. DAVIES, D.P. THOMAS, D. JONES, T. PHILLIPS, J.B. DAVIES, A. DAVIES, and J. DAVIES (nephews). John Patrick ===============================================================
