I have said for some time that John Bowles d.1664 in Elizabeth City,Va was married to Ann Southey daughter of Henry Southey and Elizabeth at his death in 1664. IS IS NOT CORRECT. The 1623 census in Elizabeth City shows that Elizabeth and Anne were the only two living out of Henry's family.That is also not correct. Henry his son lived to about 1627.Anne married first Charles Harmar, who came to Va in 1622 as did the Southeys. Charles Hamar had land in Northampton Co where he and Anne lived. After Charles died she married Nathaniel Littleton. Nathaniel died about 1654-55, and Anne died 1656.This is only one part of the Southey-Bowles connection.Keep this post, I will be coming back to it.
