    1. New Participant from the Genographic Project
    2. Charles Hartley
    3. Some of you may be familiar with the Genographic Project, sponsored by the National Geographic Society. If not there is general information available at this site: [https://www5.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/about.html]. Family Tree DNA is handling the testing aspects for the Genographic Project, and as a by-product, participants in the Genographic Project are given the opportunity to join a FTDNA surname project like ours. We received our first participant from the Genographic Project today. He descends from Thomas and Emma Bowles of Wellington in Shropshire, England. Participants from the Genographic Project will be assigned a kit number with an N prefix. Otherwise their kits will be identical to the ones we use. Their kits will be for the first 12 markers, but they will have the opportunity to upgrade to 25 or 37 markers. This new participant's 12 markers do not match any of our previous ones, so he brings a new Bowles line to the mix. More to come...
