Funeral services were held Thursday at the Cox Cemetery by Rev. T. C. Morrison, pastor of the Elkhorn Methodist Church. He was a native of this county and was born here on January 25, 1866, the son of the late Joshua and Sallie Harden Cox. He was married to Miss Hattie Crouch on October 31, 1888. Mr. Cox was left a cripple from early childhood but was always cheerful and was beloved by all who knew him. Although he was unable to attend church services he professed faith in Christ early in life and remained a member of the Elkhorn Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he leaves three sisters: Mrs. Susan Hogan, Mrs. Nannie Cave, of Taylor County, Mrs. Bertha Land, Casey County; and many other relatives. The large crowd present at the final rites demonstrated the esteem in which his neighbors and friends held the deceased. Pallbearers were: Opal Kilby, Elijah McDermott,! Crum Cave, Raymond Bowles, Coakley Cox, Delmar Land. Flower bearers were: Lydia Bowles, Helen McDermott, Mrs. Chloe Mann, Dorothy McKinley, Mrs. Delmar Land, Evelyn Sharp, Beulah Land and Nellie McDermott.
