Reed Thompson in charge, assisted by Rev. T. S. Curry and Rev. Fountain Cox. Burial was in the Union Ridge Cemetery at Spurlington. The pallbearers were Howard Penn, Coakley Hogan, Cleveland Minor, Hubert Mann, Dewey Jones, and George Cox. Mrs. Osborne, daughter of the late W. J. and Ann Bowles Mann, was born September 14, 1866 at Mannsville. She died Thursday, August 26 at 11:55 a.m. at the Rosary Hospital. She had been confined to the bed for the past two weeks. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Mannsville Methodist Church. Mrs. Osborne's forebearers migrated from Virginia to Kentucky via the Wilderness Road and she spent her entire life in the Mannsville community. She united in marriage to James D. McWhorter, who preceded her in death in July, 1895. Four sons were born to this union. Hershel and Virgil, who died in infancy; W. E. "Ed" McWhorter, former president of the Citizens Bank and Trust Co., died in 1949; and C. T. McWhorter, general chairman of a L & N Railroad union in Louisville. In 1900 she united in marriage to William Osborne, who preceded her in death in 1914. Besides her son, C. T. McWhorter, she is survived by one nephew, Oliver Mann, Route 1, Elkhorn; four nieces, Mrs. Annie Reed, Mrs. Ethel Cox, Mrs. Lois Phillips and Mrs. Cleo Harden, all of Taylor County; and many other relatives and friends.
