Kentucky Bourbon County Bowles [Paris area] this is quick outline I have a lot of history on this family and if anyone is interested I will be willing to share. Most has been posted to this list over the years and I will be happy to repost the history. I recently posted on the Bourbon County list and was ask to repost on the Bowles. So here goes…… Benjamin Bowles 1800-1780 Hanover County Virginia Son Captain David 1727 VA/1806 Parris Bourbon Co KY wife Sarah Hughes My notes: “Caption David Bowles born March 1, 1750 Hanover County, Virginia. He married twice his first wife was Sarah Hughes born abt 1727 in Virginia. They had one son Jesse [my direct line] in Goochland County, Virginia. Sarah died before 1780 in Virginia. He then married Winnie Minerva Rice before 1780 in Virginia and had three children, Nelson, Thomas and Elizabeth all born in Virginia. Son Jesse 1756 VA/June 1820 Parris Bourbon Co KY wife Hannah Perkins Jesse owned land located North of Cane Ridge Church I recently made a trip to the Bourbon Court house and found the land records and map showing the location of Bowles/Hall land. Also have Jesse’s will and documentation from two Bowles researchers that confirms his children and marriage to Hannah Perkins. They had 9 known children my direct line is Rev. Hughes Bowles March 5, 1786 VA/Dec 28, 1846 Hallsville DeWitt Co IL wife Ruth Anita Prather March 18, 1789 Montgomery Co MD/March 14, 1820 KY Jessie Bowles and Caleb Hall [also my direct line] helped form the Can Ridge Church later grandsons of Caleb [Bowles & Hall] became ministers of the Christian Church movement and started the first Christian church in Illinois in the DeWitt County area. Barbara both Jessie's are my 5th Greatgrandfathers.
