He was born on December 19, 1922, in Fort Worth, TX, the son of the late Clarence and Myrtle (Bowles) Norton. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Mr. Norton attended the First Baptist Church of Farmington. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Naval Coast Guard in World War II, where the escort ship he was on made seven round-trips across the Atlantic Ocean. Later, his ship escorted the first ship of American prisoners that were brought home from the war. He belonged to the Destroyer Escort Association. He owned and operated an auto repair shop in the St. Louis area, before moving to Farmington. He was a member of the American Legion Post 416. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Overall (Adams) Norton, son, Jeffry Norton (Margaret), two daughters, Rosalind Lorenz and Patricia Johnson, all of St. Louis, two stepsons, Michael Adams (Patricia) of Ellisville, and Patrick Adams (Mary) of Richmond, VA, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother and two sisters. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 3:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. An American Legion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation on Thursday will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Farmington with Dr. William Miller officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church or to the Presbyterian Good Samaritan Fund.
