Harden, Route 1, Campbellsville. She was rushed to Rosary Hospital where she died a short time later. Funeral services were held at the Antioch Methodist Church in Adair County, Monday, March 11. Burial was in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia. Before her marriage to Louis W. Hurt, August 17, 1925, she taught for several years in the rural schools of Taylor County. Mrs. Bowles worked under Civil Service in Washington, D. C. during World War I. With the help of the County Agent, she organized the American Helpers 4-H Club at Acton and was the first leader of that club. She then taught one year, after she married, in the Campbellsville Graded School. She united with the Campbellsville Christian Church early in life, then later transferred her membership to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was active in church work as long as her health permitted. Her husband preceded her in death October 25, 1956. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Doris Gowen, Columbia, Route 2, and Mrs. Sara Wayne Miller, of Pensacola, Florida; a son, Dewey Hurt and a step-son, Charles Hurt, both of Chicago; and one sister, Mrs. Alma B. Harden, of Campbellsville.
