    3. My cousin and I have been transcribing our great grandmother's diary. I just figured out who some mystery cousins most likely are. The entries in Phoebe (Bowles) Coats diary are: 24 Jan 1946 - Cousin Tom, Sue, Mary Emma, Joe and little Billie came to pay us a four day visit [to Contra Costa County, CA]. They hadn't been here for seven years. Dad met them in the bus station in Pleasanton. 25 Jan 1946 - Tom & Joe with the help of a passing stranger, fixed our telephone wires that had been broken since before Christmas. Joe went to S.F. Hard north wind. We went to Grange installation and initiation. 26 Jan 1946 - Dad and Tom's family went to S.F. Called on Hen. Tom had operation (3rd). Went to Eunice's to pick up Joe. Joe stayed to come with Eunice tomorrow. Tom called on a friend at that hospital. Home at 7:20. Beautiful day, they enjoyed the ride. 27 Jan 1946 - Eunice, Joe and Sharon arrived about noon. Bunny and Archie a little later. Will and Jack pruned grapes. Phyllis had German measles. Beck went to L.A. 28 Jan 1946 - Tom and family went back to Merced to visit Joe and family a few days more then on home. They spent Xmas in Mo. With their four sisters. Daddy took them to the bus in Livermore. According to Harry Sutcliffe, Joseph Hearst Bowles lived in Merced, CA. I also have a record of Tomas Kinsey Bowles being married to Susan Ashley. Mary Emma, Joe, and little Billie are presumably Tom and Susan's children. Tom and Joe had four sisters: Margaret, Mary, Hortense, and Lucy. I don't know who Hen. is. The others mentioned other than Dad, her husband Bethel, are her children and grandchildren. Tom and Joe didn't have a brother by that name. Tom was an M.D. so maybe he performed the operation on the 26th. There also a mention of Waltenspiel: 30 Mar 1946 - Ida Kamenerer, Edna, Mira and Walter Waltenspiel came, Ida to stay a while. The rest to bring her. Nice open day. Ed Waltenspiel was the husband of Margaret Bowles, the sister of Tom and Joe above. Could Ida, Edna, Mira, and Walter be the children of Ed and Margaret? We haven't finished transcribing the entire diary. What we have is at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~amcolan/Coats/Phoebe_coats_journal.html

    2. A. E. Bowles and his second wife went to New Mexico during the OK dust bowl days.? His son stayed in New Mexico and A. E. and Betty returned to Oklahoma or Arkansas. Are the Bowles in California frorm A. E. family?? A. E. or Ake is my great great grandfather.??Ancestory.com has Susannah E. "Betty" Peters Bowles death place wrong.? She died in her daughter, Mary Arizona Bowles Keaton's home.? Mary Arizona (given name per her children) lived in Haskell, Muskogee Co. OK area.? My father remembers her death when he was around 3yrs old.? She was placed in their dining room for the night.? He was afraid to sleep, thinking they might take him for burial.? She was taken to White Rock, AR for burial.? A. E. died in Antlers and it is possible he was also taken back to White Rock, AR for burial.? He was a next door neighbor to The Peters Family according to Glenda on the Bowles forum.? She has done detailed research on the family in Ok and AR.? So far she has not located A.E. grave, but did not look in White Rock.? I can personally comfirm "Betty" death per her surviving grandson, granddaughter, my father, his cousin, and other surviving members of the Mosteller - Keaton Family.? Two of Mary Arizona's daughters married into Wilburn?Web?Mosteller and Eda Samanta Payton Family from Cherokee, North Carolina,? Then four of Wilburn Webb Mosteller grandchildren married into Wilburn Ross Fultz family. Wilburn Ross Fultz was raised by Joe R. Wright?and Sallie Bunch Fultz of Newton Co. Arkansas.? 3. Is there a connection between Joseph Hearst and Thomas Kinsey Bowles of the message title and A. E. Bowles of which you write? I don't have A. E. as a son of either based on the 1930 census. See my web page for what I have: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~amcolan/Bowles/bowles.html.
