===================================================================== Match: Bowles Source: GEN-MAT-15-L@rootsweb.com From: "Helen" <Helenh@pdq.net> Subject: Washington County, Kentucky - See Names Washington County, Kentucky Deed Abstracts, 1811-1814, Volume 3, Faye Sea Sanders, 1993. Softcover, 8-1/2x11, 88 pages, indexed. The book does have a short listing (5) of deed numbers and pages on the introduction page; some pages have been marked with paperclips, and there were some light pencil underlinings and notations. I have erased all these and they were so light that one can barely see where they were. However, I left one pencil notation indicating the father of a married woman, and two additional witnesses to a deed. It looks like the bottom right corner has been bent at one time, but other than those faults, the book is in good, clean condition. From the introduction we learn: "Washington County, Ky. was formed in 1792, the first born of the new state of Kentucky, the previous nine having been established by Virginia....From this territory were taken part of Anderson in 1827, and the whole of Marion in 1834..." so those with ancestors in those two counties may find earlier references in this book.
