Kinda like being born in Ky with both parents from VA. Leathel, Oh, Leathel, I know that! :<) All the big Celtic melting pot and all that but I'm just trying to determine more direct connections possible for Cherokee Chief John BOWLES and whom his parents were as he was also known as DUWALI/D'IWALI/aka BOLD HUNTER and born in Abt. 1750 in North Carolina as was the BOLD HUNTER who was the Cherokee father of my paternal 4th great grandmother who was called Sophia/Sofia HUNTER/poss. aka BOWLES whose mother was BEAVER TOTER. Sophia/Sofia HUNTER married Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) born: Abt. 1749 in Frederick County, Virginia and he died in Alabama a few years before his wife, Sofia/Sophia HUNTER/poss. aka BOWLES died in 1849 in Henderson, Rusk County, Texas just 10 years after Chief John BOWLES died near there on July 16, 1839 between present day Henderson, Rusk County, Texas and current day Canton, Van Zandt County, Texas, about 20 miles from Canton. We know for certain of 3 wives of Chief John BOWLES but they were all somewhat later in his life and BEAVER TOTER may have been an earlier wife of same. And Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) was born in Frederick County, Virginia during the same timeframe that my paternal 5th great grandfather, (Major) Samuel EARLE, III was living there and was the 1st Member of the House of Burgesses ever elected from Frederick County, Virginia. His family started out in Northumberland County in 1649 and they were there after it became Westmoreland County, Virginia where he was born in 1692 and then he was in the Frederick County, Virginia area and later in Fauquier County, Virginia in 1760 when my 4th great grandfather, Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS,) was born there. I have so very many lines that are connected to each other and I am trying to find if there is a connection between this EARLE and PIERCE family as well as any connection between the BOWLES and CAWSEY family that is probably related by the 2nd marriage of (Major) Samuel EARLE, III's great grandfather, (Sir) John EARLE, to Mrs. Elizabeth ? CAWSEY HOWELL EARLE CLEMENT and the Elizabeth who married CAWSEY and then BOWLES. I think that there may be some very obvious family associations that are being missed for the Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) mentioned above as well as for Cherokee Chief John BOWLES. Bellinda
