William Bowles, son of Richard and Diannah nee Smith Bowles was a private in the 12th Ohio Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery, during the Civil War. He died at the Soldiers and Sailors home in Sandusky Ohio , of Pneumonia 25 0f October 1913. His death certificate states his birthdate as August 1839 however most other records show him born in 1845 in France. His parents who were English citizens, were married at the British embassy In Paris in 1843. He is buried at the cemetery at the Old Soldiers and Sailors home ;section 1, row3 marker 37.
