Fred Black of Yawkey officiating. Mrs. Bays was born December 7, 1885 at Griffithsville, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Stowers. She moved to Hamlin shortly after marrying James A Bays in 1903. Surviving are the husband four sons, Crosby, Reaford and Claude Bays of Hamlin and Corporal James S Bayes of Langley Field, Va.; seven daughters, Mrs. Minnie Thompson of Hamlin, Mrs. Nellie Young of Beverton, Mich., Mrs. Gladys Stowers of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Jewell Riffe of Ashland, Mrs. Irene Chadwick of Kenova, Mrs. Ruby Brewer and Mrs. Ima Castleberry of Huntington; four sisters, Mrs. Evaline Oxley and Mrs. Adeline Jarrell of Huntington and Mrs. Cora Stump and Mrs. Amanda Bays of Hurricane; two brothers, Andrew Stowers of Griffithsville and Lee Stowers of Huntington, and 31 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The body was taken to the residence from the Johnson-Koontz Funeral Home in Hamlin." ===================================
