    3. If you have solid information that traces your Bowles ancestry back to the early to middle 1700's in Maryland, Virginia, or North Carolina, AND your line is not currently represented in our group of DNA participants, we need a male Bowles from your line to join our project. We have several participants who can trace back to the middle or late 1700's and need help establishing the next generation back. You may hold the key. For example, participant #31654 can trace back to Alexander Hamilton Bowles who was born about 1793 in Virginia and is in Henry County VA later in life. However, he does not seem to match up with other Henry County Bowles families, so we need help locating his ancestry. Again, you may hold the clue we need. All of our current results and links to the participating family trees may be found at [http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gensoup/bowlesdna.html]. I've recently updated the family trees with any additional information I've found available. Please visit these pages and examine these trees. Then, if you are a male Bowles, or have contact with one, who is not currently involved with the project, consider carefully if adding your DNA results to our project can help you and/or someone else make that next critical step back in time. I'm waiting to hear from you. Charlie Hartley Bowles DNA Project Administrator [mailto:hartley@iglou.com]

    3. As my family DNA shows a total lack of matches, I would also encourage any Bowles from England to participate as well .mine seems to be the only one of our line in America. This is not surprising to us, we expected that, but all the same ,any Bowles originating from England or France are urged to participate! Thank you R. 3. Sir, I have a Sarah Bowles b: ca 1775 m: a John Hicks b:ca 1754 d:28 Oct 1837. If anybody comes up with a link to these people I could tie in a bunch of Bowles and Hicks. I have nobody on my side to send in a DNA of the Bowles. Just FYI.
