He was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Yadkin County to Julius Oliver and Mamie Vastie Vestal Tedder. James served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He operated Boles-Tedder Hardware in King for 25 years and later retired from Pleasants Hardware in Winston-Salem. Mr. Tedder was a member of the King Lions Club for more than 30 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Wright; and a brother, Rufus S. Tedder. Surviving are his wife, Frances Boles Tedder; three sons, Timothy Tedder, Bill (Yvonne) Tedder and Vic (Candie) Tedder, all of King; four grandsons, Ian Smith Tedder, William Austin Tedder, Cody Darren Tedder and Jacob Lane Rogers; a sister-in-law, Louise Tedder of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today, March 4, with the Rev. Lisa Wishon and the Rev. Arthur Livengood officiating. The family ! will receive friends in the church immediately following the service. Burial with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 725 W. Dalton Road, King, NC, 27021. (Slate Funeral Home).
