No one has answered this question (see below): The other one I looked hard at was that she was a daughter of Sarah Howard (dau. of John Baptist Howard, brother of Thomas) and Matthew Cissell who were married in KY on March 17, 1795. Did they have a daughter by that name? In trying to place Thomas Howard again, I noticed that I do a guy in my database of the right age. In "The State of His Lordship's Manor", 1768 were listed together: William Howard, Jr., b. 1728; Nicholas Howard, b. 1748; and Thomas Howard (b. 1740). I have nothing further on them. Was there a Nicholas Howard in KY anywhere? Linda Reno ===================================================================== Match: Bowles Source: MDSTMARY-L@rootsweb.com From: "Jerry L. Clark" <jerry876@comcast.net> Subject: RE: [MDSTMARY-L] Thomas Howard and Ann Gough Maybe some one else who has followed better Mathew Cissell and Sarah Howard can tell me all of their children, but I don't have any daughter Mary Cissell Mathew Cissell married Sarah Howard on 11 March 1795 in Washington County, KY. You have date of 17 Mar 1795 not sure who is more correct. Can anyone locate the marriage record to verify? These are the children I have for them: Elizabeth Cissell born abt 4 Apr 1800 married on 19 Sept 1818 in Washington County, KY to Robert Rhodes son of Cornelius Rhodes and Anastatia Mattingly Harriett E. Cissell born 22 April 1802 Washington County, KY died 12 Dec 1876 Marion County, KY married 20 Nov 1824 Washington County, KY to William Rhodes born 4 April 1800 Washington DC, he died 24 Jan 1880 in Marion County, KY Charles Cissell born 1808 Washington County, KY married 28 Oct 1828 in Hardin County, KY to Rebecca Shipley Geoghegan born 10 Dec 1809 Hardin County, KY died 25 Feb 1883 Hardin County, KY she was the daughter of Ambrose Denton Geoghegan Jr. and Elizabeth Shipley Can anyone else add any other children of Mathew Cissell and Sarah Howard. I suspect their were other children, but I don't have them. I had followed them on Census records but when I started using an IBM compatable computer instead of a Macintosh Computer I switched Genealogy programs to Legacy, and when I downloaded my gedcom file none of the notes came with it that I had, come to find out this was a glitch in Legacy program, which they have since fixed from what they say, but I need to create a new file and try to download the Gedcom again. I also lost some data when my daughter loaded up service pack two of Windows XP, it has all kinds of bugs in it, and it caused a computer crash. I lost most of my Howard updates from lasts years discussion including our discussion of David Johnson. I need to go back in archives of Rootsweb to retrieve it, but have not done so, due to lack of time. Can anyone update the children of Mathew Cissell and Sarah Howard. Mathew J. Cissell born 1811 in Washington County, KY died 17 May 1865 in Marion County, KY married Angeline M. Hagan born 20 May 1819, she died 18 oct 1853, I have they married on 3 oct 1835, but I don't know where they married. She was the daughter of John Hagen and Elizabeth Hayden I don't think I have any Nicholas Howard which came to Nelson County, KY But then he may have gone to some other state. Maybe not all the kids of Edward Howard came to Nelson County, KY ===================================================================== Match: Bowles Source: MDSTMARY-L@rootsweb.com From: "Linda Reno" <lindareno@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [MDSTMARY-L] Eleanor Bowles Hi Leathel, That's what I have BUT......I'm not convinced that Eleanor, wife of John (Bould) Bowles, John Medley Thompson, and John Bradburn was the daughter of Luke Cissell and Thomasine Hayden. Ms. Donnelly asserts that she was and bases it on this: 11/15/1757: Luke Cissell and his wife deeded "Finchley" to John Medley Thompson who had married their daughter Eleanor. (Donnelly). In this case, she simply stated the wrong date as the transfer took place in 1737 vs. 1757, however, the transfer of property did not necessarily mean that Eleanor was their daughter. There is no mention in any records that I've found that would link Eleanor to Luke and Thomasine Cissell. And....again, sometimes land was just sold, not always inherited. From my notes: 11/15/1737: "Finchley", 300 ac., St. Clement's Hundred, surveyed 11/29/1670 for Arthur Thompson. Possessor: James Gray, but the land belongs to Richard Hughes of Virginia. 6/6/1716: 300 ac. from William Maria Farthing to William Hayden. 3/5/1724: 300 ac. from William Maria Farthing to William Hayden. 11/15/1737: 149 ac. from Luke Cecil and wife to John Medley Thompson. (SMC Rent Rolls, 1639-1771). Ms. Donnelly also assumed that John Bould was the son of George Bowles and Lillias Watson. She gave them a number of children and then killed them off. There is no evidence that George Bowles and Lillias Watson had any children whatsoever and I don't believe that they did. Both George and Lillias had wills and neither will named any grandchildren or anybody with the surname Bowles or Bould. George left all to Lillias and then she left one item to Elizabeth Nevison and the remainder to her siblings in Scotland.
