Ms. Donnelly asserts that she was and bases it on this: 11/15/1757: Luke Cissell and his wife deeded "Finchley" to John Medley Thompson who had married their daughter Eleanor. (Donnelly). In this case, she simply stated the wrong date as the transfer took place in 1737 vs. 1757, however, the transfer of property did not necessarily mean that Eleanor was their daughter. There is no mention in any records that I've found that would link Eleanor to Luke and Thomasine Cissell. And....again, sometimes land was just sold, not always inherited. From my notes: 11/15/1737: "Finchley", 300 ac., St. Clement's Hundred, surveyed 11/29/1670 for Arthur Thompson. Possessor: James Gray, but the land belongs to Richard Hughes of Virginia. 6/6/1716: 300 ac. from William Maria Farthing to William Hayden. 3/5/1724: 300 ac. from William Maria Farthing to William Hayden. 11/15/1737: 149 ac. from Luke Cecil and wife to John Medley Thompson. (SMC Rent Rolls, 1639-1771). Ms. Donnelly also assumed that John Bould was the son of George Bowles and Lillias Watson. She gave them a number of children and then killed them off. There is no evidence that George Bowles and Lillias Watson had any children whatsoever and I don't believe that they did. Both George and Lillias had wills and neither will named any grandchildren or anybody with the surname Bowles or Bould. George left all to Lillias and then she left one item to Elizabeth Nevison and the remainder to her siblings in Scotland.
