    1. William Bowles' in the 1850Owsley Co. KY Census
    2. Carolyne Bowles
    3. Leathel, My name is Ralph Bowles and I decend from Elbert Boles through his youngest son, Daniel (He was my Grandfather). I saw your post to L Larsen and had some disagreements with a few points. In the 1850 Owsley Co. KY census, I read the entries for William Boles, Sr age 55 and Elizabeth age 50 (rather than 35 as you concluded). Even so, I am relatively certain that they understated their age as I believe this is William (H?) Boles b. abt. 1785 and Sarah Elizabeth Gum b. abt. 1787. They are residing between Stephen Gum (Sarah Elizabeth's Brother) and Elbert (their oldest son). A younger son, William Boles, age 21 is next door to Elbert. My records show Elbert b. May, 27, 1808 to be the first son William Boles and Sarah Elizabeth Gum, married July 14, 1807 in Madison Co., KY. In the 1860 census, William and Sarah Elizabeth have 'fessed up' to their respective ages (75 and 73) and are living with their youngest son D. G. (referred to as Garrardo in the 1850 census). I have only been at the family research for 3 or 4 years and I enjoy the opportunity to 'listen in' to the surname discussions. My evidence becomes pretty thin beyond William and Sarah Elizabeth ( on the Bowles side) so I am very interested in extending my family connection. Unfortunately, I don't believe the connection of Elbert Boles as a son of William Anderson Bowles is a prudent one. Ralph Bowles
