Charley, in the Farquar book,there is reference to a Bowles that went over the mountain and was lost. This may account for the DNA match on the Melungeon group. Have misplaced my copy of the Farquar book. Will look for same,and send more info. Redbird supposedly was fathered by a Scottish fur trader. I dont know or dont think any one has the info . I think the lost Bowles was about the right age to have been Redbirds father. Will check this out further when I find my copy. Bill Bowles.
