Maria Rye brought many British Home Children to Canada from 1869-1896 where many of them would have first started out at Our Western Home in Niagara- on-the-Lake. Both my gg's were BHC's coming with Rye so I have a great interest in her and am with the help of Chris Sanham in West Sussex creating a database of names. Our first line of attack are the passenger lists and todate we have over 4100 names. One resource I have is a 1875 Inspection Report which lists the names of the Guardian/Employers and I thought many of you might be surprised to find that one of your ancestors was responsible for a Home Child. For further information as to the BHC's name, please contact me.
