I have his pension file if you are interested. Helen Joseph Jewel's Will In the name of God Amen. I, Joseph Jewell, of the county of Cumberland and state of Kentucky, being of sound mind and memory but old, frail and weak in body, do make and publish this as my last will and testament, revoking, annulling and setting aside all other wills by me heretofore made. First It is my will and desire that my daughter Catherine Lewis, have the land upon which Richard Lewis now lives, containing fifty acres by survey, during her natural life, and at her death, again said fifty acres of land to my two granddaughters Celina and Sevena (that's what it looks like) Lewis forever. I also give to my two said grand daughters, fifty dollars each, to be paid to them by my executors here after named, at my death Secondly I give to my granddaughter Polly Black, the fifty acres of land, upon which she now lives, during her natural life, and at her death, I give said land to all her children theirs forever. Thirdly I give and bequeath to my two granddaughters Louisa Keeton and Patsey Cole the tract of land, upon which they now live, containing one hundred and twenty-two acres and a half acres, by survey, during their natural lives to be equally divided between them, and at their death, I give the same land to their children forever. Fourthly I give and bequeath to my two granddaughters Susannah Lackey and Patsey Ferguson the tract of land which I own, lying on the ridge between the waters of Brush Creek and Whetstone, containing one hundred acres, to have forever. Fifthly It is my will and desire that all the balance of my estate, which I now own or may own at my death, real, personal or mixed, be given to my daughter, Catharine Lewis forever. Sixthly I hereby constitute and appoint Joel Owls and Wm. Cheek executor of this my last will and testament. Given under my and this the 24th day of June 1839 in presence of: Witness Joseph X Jewel ( X His mark) E.F. Boles J. Miller State of Kentucky, Cumberland County Court I, Milton King, the clerk of the County Court for said County, do certify that the within last will and testament of Joseph Jewel deceased was produced in Court at the August term 1840 and proved by the oaths of the two subscribing witnesses thereto, E. F. Boles and J. Miller and ordered to record. And the same is truly recorded in my office in Will book C page 457. Witness made had this 13th day of August 1840 M. King
