Born July 15, 1945 in Gary, Indiana to the late Lauren and Doris Backstrom. Formerly married to Lawrence Beasley (deceased) of Cisne, Illinois and later married Mike Memishee of Chicago, Illinois. Survived by three daughters, Honey Sue Beasley (Ray Singelmann) of Chicago, Holly Hotwagner (Steve) of Johnsonville, Crystal Arenas (Eddie) of Chicago and one son, Matthew Memishee (Erica) of Champaign. Also grandchildren, Katie (26), Christopher (24), Joshua (23) and Macy(3) and 3 Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Angelea and Shaylyn. Her siblings are Richard Backstrom (Linda), Harley Backstrom (Mary), Shelly Bowles (Rick), Shannon Grilec (Bob) and Mark Backstrom (Karen) and her 9 nieces, 8 nephews, their children and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers (Dewey and John) and one sister (April). We would like to thank all the hospice staff at Northwestern University in Chicago and the oncology staff at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Moved to Chicago and worked in the food industry for 33 years. Then moved to Champaign, resided there for 13 years as a city bus driver. Iris loved to do crafts, go shopping and attend auctions. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Cisne Cemetery in Cisne, Illinois with Reverend Slayter officiating. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
