He suffered a slight heart attack about 6 p.m. on Tuesday and a physician was summoned. He responded to treatment and seemingly was much better when he retired for the night. He died in his sleep sometime early the next morning. Netherland, owner and operator of Woodland Inn until its closing a few years ago, and owner of extensive land holdings in Marion County, had been living in Lebanon for about 20 years. In recent years a son, Jack Netherland, has taken over the bulk of the farm management duties. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m. from the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. A. B. Colvin in charge. Burial took place Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Ryder Cemetery in Lebanon. Burial was delayed awaiting the arrival of a son, Edwin Netherland, who was aboard a Navy cruiser off the coast of Africa. Netherland, son of the late Julian B. Netherland and Diema Allen Netherland, was born February 18, 1887 in Taylor County, Ky. Survivors include five sons and two daughters, Jack Netherland, of Marion County; James Netherland, Finley; Ambrose Netherland, Madison, Ind.; Robert Netherland, Frankfort; Chief Petty Officer C. Edwin Netherland, Lynnhaven, Va.; Mrs. Hayden Bowles, Jr., Spurlington and Sister Angelica of the Dominican Order, Spalding, Nebraska. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. A. J. Arvin of Campbellsville.
