McGinnis Harry David McGinnis, 91, a life time resident of Fall River, KS died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Harry was born September 27, 1916, to Mary (Hosler) and Jess McGinnis north of Fall River KS. He attended grade school and graduated from Fall River High School in 1938. On June 11, 1944 he married Wilma Boles. Together they owned and operated Mac's Sundries Store in Fall River for several years. Harry was employed at the Fall River Post office for 27 years, retiring in 1969. Harry enjoyed gardening, and going to the Fall River Hootenanny. Harry raised hogs for a number of years selling feeder pigs. He was a cattleman with a cow-calf operation until his death. Harry was an active Fall River community member with the Fall River Booster club, a founding member of the Fall River Free Barbeque, and a 63 year mason member of Greenwood Lodge #163. He was the Past Master of Greenwood Lodge and served most every office. Harry had served on the Elk County Extension, Elk County Livestock Assoc., and Elk County Farm Bureau Boards Preceding him in death are his wife Wilma, and brother Joe McGinnis. Harry is survived by his son Eldon, daughter-in-law Jane of Fredonia, Kansas. One brother Carl McGinnis of Rose Hill, Kansas. One sister Helen Balentine of Fredonia, Kansas. Grandchildren: David McGinnis, Tammy Green of New Albany, DeeAnn Edens and husband Lance of Fredonia, Dana Anderson and husband Matt, Independence. Great Grandchildren: Faith Edens, Ariel, Dylan McGinnis, Cooper Anderson and Holly Green. Funeral Services will be held, Friday December 21, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Fall River Methodist Church with Pastor Charlotte Coates officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 - 8 PM with family receiving friends from 5 -7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Wilson County Old Iron Club or Fredonia Regional Health Care Foundation, and may be sent to the funeral home.
