Clinton, I found this in the Pennington Pedigree, Vol. X, No. 1, April 1978 issue. It briefly mentions Alvord, Wise Co., TX Pennington's. I've highlighted in red for you. THE LINE OF ISIAH CROUCH PENNINGTON Isaiah was the tenth child of Daniel and Esther Frailey Pennington. He was born and raised in Monroe County KY where his grandparents Richard and Hannah Boone Stewart Pennington settled ca 1797. According to one of his descendants Daniel was born in Montgomery (now Grayson) Va. on Dec. 3, 1781. In a letter written from Monroe Co., KY on Apr. 17, 1853 to Dr. Draper (an early day Boone family researcher) Daniel relates: "I was in company with Col. Daniel Boone in 1798 (that was the year they moved to Fayette Co., KY) in the month of February in Lexington, KY., and had much conversation with him about matters of minor importance. If I could see you and converse with you perhaps you might gather something from it, but I could not write the little social conversations I had with him. It would look too simple. I would be wasting time and paper to no profit." At the time of this writing Daniel was sick and a friend, Phillip Emmert, was doing the actual writing for him. Sometime after 1854 he must have moved to Jackson Co., Tenn (now Clay Co.) for we find him living there in 1860. Daniel served in the War of 1812 and has a bounty land grant in the Archives in Washington, D.C. Daniel was married on Aug. 20, 1805, in Barren Co., KY to Esther Frailey (b. 5 May, 1788 in Augusta Co., VA; d. April 30, 1854 in Monroe Co., KY. She was the dau. of Christian b 14 Feb 1759, d. 14 Dec. 1810 in Barren Co., KY. He married Elizabeth Harding Frailey on Sept. 27, 1787 in Augusta Co., VA. Elizabeth was born Mar. 15, 1766 and d. Dec. 20, 1854 in Monroe Co., KY: Dr. David Trimble of San Antonio, Texas located the family bible and it is from this source that the names of his children has been learned. 1. S. Boone Pennington, b Sept. 20, 1806, in Monroe Co., KY d. ? m. Jan. 12, 1832, Martha ----. He was a blacksmith and is listed in the 1850 census together with his children. 2. Elizabeth, the second child of Daniel was born Feb. 24, 1808 in Monroe Co., KY and d. July 4, 1900 in Clay Co., Tenn. She married Jan. 17, 1826 to Abraham M. Hest and who d July 4, 1877 in Clay Co., Tenn. (more information on Elizabeth's family is in HANNAH BOONE by Hawthorne) 3. Mary was born Feb. 7, 1810; d. Apr 31, 1870 unmarried. 4. Frailey was born Dec. 15, 1811 and was m Mar. 29, 1832 to Elizabeth Fawbusl. Their family is listed in the 1850 census of Monroe Co., KY. 5. Stewart was born Mar. 12, 1814. Not listed in the 1850 census of Monroe so either died or moved. (perhaps he was one of the mystery Stewarts living in Illinois later. MJ) 6. Lavesta b Feb 26, 1816 m after 1840 to -------- Smith moved west. 7. Abigail b Apr 24, 1818 m Sept. 1839 to Jonathan Moore. 8. Esther born July 4, 1820 d. May 29, 1905 in Monroe Co., KY.; m Benjamin Marshall in Feb 1854. No children. 9. Amanda Melvina b Oct. 30, 1822 m after 1850 to -------- Ferguson. No children. 10. Isaiah Crouch P. was born Apr. 3, 1825 and d Feb 3, 1892 in Monroe Co., KY. He married Louisa Minerva Cherry on Mar 25, 1846. More will be given on him later. 11. Nancy b Sept 15, 1827 in Monroe Co; d. Aug 2, 1895 in Monroe Co. m ca 1849 Isaac C. Hix who was b Jan 1, 1824 and d Jan. 17,1910. Recently, more research has been done on the descendants of Daniel's tenth child Isaiah by Robert Wyatt of 1525 Akahele Place, Kailua, Hawaii 96734 and Carroll A. Pennington of 3511 So. Terrace Rd., Tempe Arizona 85282. Their research will be included in this report. Much of Carroll's data is from the family bible of Isaiah Crouch Pennington. Children: 1. Prudence b Sept 7, 1848 at Tomkinsville, Monroe Co., KY m. to Robert Beaver. 2. Elkanah Delaney b Sept. 22, 1849 near Gamaliel, Monroe Co. m Clementina Dunham. Elkanah went to Illinois as a young man and moved on to Texas in 1892. He had a 160 acre farm near Sunset, Wise Co., Texas where he raised a family of seven sons and seven daughters. He died there Apr 3, 1921 and is buried in Union Hill Cemetery near his farm. Following is a list of the children of Elkanah as given by Robert Wyatt. a. George (Pat) Pennington, the son of Sanford, was raised by his mother's side of the family so knows very little about his Pennington kin. George has a son, Coy, who is married to the daughter of Robert Wyatt. Pat lives in Brownsfield, Texas. f. Ida May birth date unknown; m Chestal Reid; bur *Alvord, Wise Co., TX* d. Robert Wyatt is trying to learn more about the fourteen children of Elkanah and Clementina Pennington. 3. Lavesta Jane, the third child of Isaiah, was b Feb. 3, 1852 in Tomkinsville, KY. She married William H. Rush b April 6, 1853 in Monroe Co., KY. Children: a. L.R. Rush born June 2, 1873 b. Rush born Oct. 6, 1874, d Nov 26, 1874 c. Locid J. b Oct 14, 1875 d. Nancy Ann Rush b April 18, 1878 4. Carroll Austin, the fourth child of Isaiah, was born in Tomkinsville, KY on Feb 2, 1854. He married Eliza Ann Tolman, b Apr. 10, 1862 dau of James Tolman b Oct 30, 1819, on Nov. 5, 1884. Carroll and his family moved to *Wise Co., TX* where Carroll died on Feb. 25, 1901 and Eliza on Aug. 28, 1904. They were farmers and belonged to the Baptist church. Their children: a. Merrie (Mervie) b July 1895; d. Jan 23, 1896. e. George Murphy b Sept 29, 1897 m June 27, 1926 d. Aug. 1962 at Mesa, Arizona. George was married to Florence Burton at Phoenix, Az. Florence was born July 8, 1904 at Mesa, AZ and died Aug 20, 1962 and was buried in Mesa, AZ. George was a barber and served in the U.S. Navy. The information on Carroll Austin was furnished by George's son, Carroll Austin Pennington II of 3511 S. Terrace Rd. Tempe, Ariz. 5. Esther, the 5th child of Isaiah was born in Tomkinsville, KY on Aug. 1, 1857. 6. Tolbert P., the 6th child of Isaiah was born in Tomkinsville, KY March 6, 1859. His wife was Frances Keith. 7. Daniel Rufus, the 7th child of Isaiah was born in Tomkinsville, KY Mar. 23, 1862. He lived on a farm near Tomkinsville and was past 80 when visited by his nephew, Loranzy Dow Pennington.
