Bk. 1795-98, p. 18 Thomas C Fletcher Gent. is appointed surveyor of the road petitioned for by John T Hawkins from Charlottesville to the River, and it is ordered that the following gang be assigned him to open the same, to wit, his own William Burton, Zachariah Bowles, Bartelott Bowls, Griffen Butler, Shadarick & Robert Battel.s, John Hawkins's hands, James Maddeson, Samuel Carr's and Mrs. Martha Car'.s Thomas W Lewis, s Mrs. Lucy Gilmers and the male labouring tytheables within the Town of Charlottesville. 2 December 1800, Ord.
