Thanks! It's hard to tell though if any of the UK Census listings would be my Fannie w/out the names of her parents or even where in the UK she's from. It's strange I can't find any death info. on her. If I could find where she died, then I could order a death certificate. I am a member of Ancestry.com so I have really searched through the databases. I was hoping there may be others with Bowles family in the Northeast and a possible relation to this line. Thanks for your help! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Charles Hartley Sent: Thursday, May 08, 2008 10:59 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BOWLES] Fannie Bowles abt. 1853 The 1861 UK census shows 4 Fanny Bowles' born about 1853: Fanny Bowles, dau of Thomas and Sarah; residing in Daglingworth, Gloucestershire; Thomas was a shepherd. Fanny Bowles, dau of William and Mary E.; residing in Hunton, Kent; William was an agricultural laborer. Fanny Bowles, dau of William and Mary Ann; residing in Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire; William was a warehouseman. Fanny L. Bowles, dau of John and Ellen T.; residing in Portsea, Hampshire; John was a schoolmaster. The latter Fanny L. Bowles (middle initial might be S.) was listed with her parents in the 1871 census, and she was listed as a teacher of music. According to the 1900 census, your Fanny entered the U.S. in 1872. Perhaps this will give you a lead to follow. >I have a Fannie Bowles that was born in England about 1853. She married my >gg grandfather in NY I believe.
