    3. All we know about Elijah in VA is from 1782-84, and his relationship to these other Bowles and their possible relation to each other. Elijah was not a rich man that I can tell. He probable worked on his family farm. I have him living in Henrico Co,Va 1782-84. Gideon and David both lived in Henrico Co.There was also a John who lived next to the Hughes and a Thomas and Benjamin that lived next to each other in Henrico Co. They moved into Henrico Co in the 1740-50's. Elijah had enough money to buy land in Barren Co in 1809. This is really going to get deep before it is over. Leathel, Again, who is the father of Elijah Bowles born 1751? 1. John and Ann 2. Henry 3. Thomas b.1733, d.1813 4. Gideon b.abt 1730, d. 1796 5. David b. 1732, d. 1806 6. John Bowles b. 1726

    3. You might think John and Ann would name a son John at some time? Maybe this is him born 1726? This John could also be the father of Elijah b.1751? There are a couple more names that could belong to John and Ann. Gideon and David are said to have a sister Margaret who married Thomas Puryear and this Jerusha Bowles that married Samuel Mosby? 3. Here is the information I have concerning St Peter\ St Paul parish in New Kent Co, Va and Christ Church Parish, Middlesex County, VA. John and Ann were probably married in mid 1720's. John and Mary in mid 1730's. I don't think we have the first born children of either. Leathel, April 20, 1704 From the "The Vestry Book of St. Paul's Parish". St. Peters parish in New Kent County was divided into two parishes.(St Peter\St Paul). In St. Paul's Parish it mention the following: - "A line between the plantations of Nicholas Lawson and John Sandidge the said Lawson to be in the Lower parish and Sandidge in the upper and so upon a straight line to Chickahominy Swamp including Edward Clarks in the upper parish." 3. We have a problem here, is the person bapt. 13th Feb'y 1703/4 John Bowles Jr or a son of John Bowles Jr? A very important piece of information is that Henry Bow daughter was bapt in 1703 in St Peters Parish, New Kent Co, VA. In the 1704 census there was only John Bowles listed in New Kent Co with land. Henry Bow must have been living on John Bowles land in 1704. July 11, 1719 both John Bowles and Henry Bow patent land in New Kent Co, VA. This leads me to believe that John Bowles who married Ann is the grandson of John Bowles in 1719, and John Bowles (Bow) who married Mary was a son of Henry Bow, a son of John Bowles who had land in New Kent Co before 1719. About 1684. Leathel, St. Peter's, Virginia Parish Records, 1680-1787, New Kent Co, VA (page ukn John Boules, Junr bapt. 13th Feby, 1703/4 page ukn ______ of John Bowles Junr bapt. 13th Feb'y, 1703/4.) page unk Jane daughter of Henry Bow baptized the 4 of April, 1703.

    1. Elijah Bowles born 1751
    2. Leathel Bowles
    3. Who are the parents of Elijah Bowles born 1751? I have been taking a closer look at the information I have on Elijah.I know there has been some DNA done of some lines going back to Elijah, but who are his parents? Here are some possibably parents for Elijah. 1. John and Mary Bowles that were in Middlesex Co in the 1740-50'. 2. John and Ann that was in St Peter Parish, New Kent Co in 1730's. There is a possibablity this is same family? Don't think so. Because John and Ann had a son Thomas born 1733 and John and Mary a son Thomas born 1744. ( New information, thanks to Brenda, that has straighten some things out.) 3. Thomas Bowles of Chesterfield Co married Mary Martin and had two sons John b.1758 and James b.1760. For some reason I had them born in Middlesex Co. They were born in St Peter Parish, in New Kent Co. That would make Thomas Bowles born in 1733 in St Peter Parish, New Kent Co the parents of John and James NOT Thomas born 1744 in Middlesex Co. 4. Thomas Bowles b. 1733 had two brothers in Chesterfield Co in 1783. Zachariel Bowles born 1745 and Henry Bowles ( not sure if Henry born before Thomas 1733 or between 1740 and when Zachariel was born 1745, my guess between 1740-45). If before Thomas born 1733, we have the possibably of Elijah's father being Henry, Thomas or John and Ann. Thomas b.1733 and Zachariel b. 1745 married Martin sisters. 5. Gideon d. 1796 and David Bowles b.1732 are said to be brothers and Gideons father to be John Bowles. Is it Possible that Gideon and David are brothers of Thomas b.1733 and sons of John and Ann Bowles? Two more possibables for the father of Elijah born 1751. 6. Again, who is the father of Elijah Bowles born 1751? 1. John and Ann 2. Henry 3. Thomas b.1733, d.1813 4. Gideon b.abt 1730, d. 1796 5. David b. 1732, d. 1806 Leathel,

    3. For those researching the Feezle name. The following is from my unpublished family history: "Elizabeth Mary Jane KILGORE Boles received a partial interest in some land in Greene County from her father, James Kilgore. She and her husband, John Boles, sold that interest to Henry Feezle, by deed dated 15 October 1846 as follows (Deed Book 22 pages 198-199): "We John Bowls and his wife Eliza M. J. formerly Eliza M. J. Kilgore, daughter and heir at law of James Kilgore decd, have bargained and sold, and do herby transfer and convey to Henry Feezle, for the Consideration of Two hundred and twenty two dollars and fifty cents, to us paid, a tract of Land in the State of Tennessee, Greene County and District No. 5 containing by estimation Sixty Six acres and bounded as follows: (here follows the meets and bounds survey) - - - and for the consideration aforesaid, we have in like manner Sold and hereby convey to the said Henry Feezle, all our right claim and interest in the Dower of Margaret Kifer, late Margaret Kilgore in the lands of the said James Kilgore decd - - -. Witness our hands and seals this 15th day of October 1846 Signed, sealed and delivered) John Bowles (seal) in our presence on date) her Jno Shield ) Eliza M. J. X Bowles (seal) Jas McNew ) mark" The price of $3.50 per acre was quite high for that time. This deed provides us with names and relationships which are of much value. In this case, it appears that the widow of James Kilgore was Margaret Kilgore and that she may have forfeited her dowry by marrying a Kifer." Samuel Feezle (age 30-40) Farming was recorded on page 28 of the 1840 Census of Greene County. There was a Patton Feezle (age 18 farmer) living with my William Milo Ferguson family in the 1860 Census of Greene Sounty at No. 860. All of the above were in the vicinity of the Bright Hope Furnace. There are many references to Henry Feezle in my Transcription of the Bright Hope Furnace Ledger at: http://www.kiva.net/~jeskewic/brighthope.html (see Name Index) A. NOK: Joseph Clarke and Clement Stratford, Exec: Wife, Monica. I don't really have a good feel for the year of birth for Joseph Clarke, son of Matthew Clarke and Lydia Hazel. The records don't given us any indication of the ages of their children--whether they were adults or under age in 1783. 8/18/1783: Admin. accts. of Matthew Clarke by Lydia Clarke, Admx. Widow, 1/3. Children, equally: Ann, Robert, John, Elijah, Zachariah, Matthew, Joseph, Lydia, and Mary. (Balances and Distributions, Chr. of SM, Spring 1993). I have that Mary Thompson, daughter of Thomas Thompson and Mary Cole married Joshua Clarke. She may have been married first to a Bowles and was therefore a widow when she married Joshua Clarke. Joshua Clarke married Mary Bowles St. Francis Xavier RCC on September 16, 1772. Jerry, I have no record of a Joseph Clarke dying in 1798 with or without a wife named Mary. Was this in KY?
