    2. Ludema
    3. Leathel, Lucy was first mentioned as the servant of William Bowles. In 1809 she was mentioned as belonging to Sarah Bowles. That's the reason I thought, maybe William had died. William also owned a servant, Ben. Sometimes slaves were named after their owners. Maybe William had a Ben relative somewhere. But a servant, Ben was also owned by Lowry Bishop, first. Don't know if this was the same Ben. Probably was. Also if many of these people related, it's possible that more than 1 line of Bowles went to Dripping Springs church. Look at the Holsclaws and Melinda Bowles. They were members there. People came from miles arouind, to Dripping Springs. It wasn't like it is now, where we can go to a church that is near. But there were also many well known preachers back in the 1800s, and people followed them, from everywhere. It was stated in the Dripping Springs records that the Dales and Shirleys were always fighting. (maybe fueding) They related through marriage. 3. Lue, you are in the Thomas Phillip Bowles and Sarah Bacon group when you mention Dripping Springs Church.I don't remember William or Benjamin going to Dripping Springs Church? 3. WOW, I hit the jackpot with the William Anderson Bowles post, thanks to Ralph Bowles.I was not sure on some things and needed to find out. I had both Williams as one in my Madison Co, Ky folder and tracking them from there.Anyway Ralph Bowles wrote and I think straighten me out and the 1850 census. If Ralph don't mind, I would like for him to post his answer to the list? Are they related? I think so. Are they related to Elijah Bowles in Barren Co? I think so. Jane Bowles, William Anderson Bowles sister and Zachariel Bowles of Barren Co have two things in common, Madison Co, Ky and Falmouth, Ky. (I think William and Jane were brother and sister?)(Not sure where Zachariel and Anderson Bowles of Barren Co fit in?) Leathel, 8. 1789 Mason - Bourbon --- Maysville. 3. Leathel, in the book, "Pioneer Baptist Church Records of South-Central Kentucky and the Upper Cumberland of Tennessee, 1799-1899," it says on page 96: "History of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church (Barren County, Kentucky) Mt. Pisgah was a daughter of Dripping Spring Baptist Church. In the Dripping Spring Church Book on the first Saturday in April 1809, the following was recorded: "'After divine service 1st. a number of the brethren made excuses for neglecting to attend church meeting and took their seat. 2nd. Received Ann a servant of C. Hitches by experence. [sic.] 3rd. From a petition from the following bretheren viz: John & Ann Warder, Joseph & Esther Warder, Clement & Elizabeth Hitch, Joseph Warder, Sarah Bowles, John & Elizabeth Bowles, Sibella Longdon, William Warder, Walter and Polly Warder, Sarah & Polly Maddox, Nancy Settle, Jack (a servant of T. James), Baptist (serv. of J. Warder) Lucy (ser. of Sarah Bowles) letter of dismission and granted in order to form a constitution at a meeting house by John Warder & dismissed in order.'" On the fourth Sunday in April the following was recorded: "'at a meeting at Brother John Warders dismissed Moses & Hannah Cox, Frederic & Lucy Smith, Elizabeth Settle, Sally Bailey, Elisha Deweese, Wm. Beard, Michael & Fanny Hall, Manuel (a serv. of Lucy Settle) in order to join the above const.'" In 1856 Mt. Pisgah was dismissed by letter from the Green River Association to join some other association in that area. The church appears to have united with the Original Barren River Association at this time. However by 1879 there is no mention of the church in the minutes of that association. In 1855, a church called Mt. Pisgah, joined the Barren River Association with a membership of 26, and continued with that body until 1860." (snip) [Next is an accounting of the men who were the representatives of the church at larger association meetings. In 1814, W. Bowles is mentioned, and there were 93 members. No other Bowles are mentioned in the other years.] [Just for the record, I'm going to list all the Bowles in the book, their churches and the years they attended, so we can have it in one place.] Page 112: Three Springs Baptist Church (Barren County, Kentucky) Messengers 1876 I. Clothcovered hardback with gilt printing, 6-1/4x9-1/4, 370 pages, maps, charts, document reproductions, index. This is a withdrawn library book with the usual pocket, markings, and it is stamped "withdrawn". The call number data has been removed from the spine and it looks like and eighth of an inch of the spine went with it! Otherwise, the book is in good unmarked condition and judging from the amount of tremendous research in the ook, it surely must have taken years to put together. Very impressive! This is an important research tool for all Hutchins who participated in the Revolutionary War, and especially those in the New England colonies.I cannot stress enough the amount of data included in this book! It also includes the "Hutchins Genealogy", and reprinted here, compiled by Charles Hutchins, printed in Boston in 1885. The third book is: "Four Generations of the Family of Strangeman Hutchins and His Wife, Elizabeth Cox, as Known January 10, 1935.
