    3. England, Ireland, Virginia, and Maryland are the locations I find this line in. I have a feeling that is not the only locations they were in. I put this line together using several documents such as wills, land, marriages, and surnames associated with them in different locations. John Bowles has been said to have came to Virginia as early as 1610. John Bowles died in Elizabeth City Co, Va in 1664 leaving a will naming his son John Bowles as heir of several pieces of land. This land was not in one location. This don't mean that was the only son he had, probably the only one living at that time. John son John was born 1615 and died 1675 in Maryland. John had a brother Edward born 1598, that died 1659 in Maryland. John Bowles that died 1664 was born about 1580. In his will, when John Bowles died in 1675 he owned a piece of land called "Bowlstone" which was surveyed to him in 1672. You just can't imagine how important that piece of land and "Comegys Choice" has been in putting this line together. Now we have two generations from about 1580 to 1675 (John and John).     3. Hi all Bowles researchers !! I am new to the list but have emailed a few over the past few years. I am researching John & Malinda Bowles from Chesterfield co Va. They had a daughter Jane Bowles who married Nathon Nelson in Carroll co Va in 1854. Jane listed her parents as John & Malinda Bowles on her marriage licence. Jane had 2 children (out of wedlock) that were indentured out in 1848 & 1850. John Anderson Bowles was her sons name and Sarah Elizabeth Bowles was the daughter. John spelled Boles was put with Amos Shockley, he is in the 1850 &1860 census for Carroll co Va. John joined the Civil War (45th Va infantry) but was killed in action, CCC 15 years old in 1860 Carroll co VA census (NFI). Sarah was put with James Bond, she is 3 years old in 1850 Carroll co VA census . When Jane married Nathon or Nathanial Nelson she never changed her name or age. In the 1850 Wythe Co Va census she is "SERVING" him. In the 1850 census for Wythe co Va she listed herself being 25 years old. On her marriage license in 1854 she was 25 years old. In the 1860 Wythe co Va census she is 25 years old. I have been trying to connect with John & Malinda Bowles in Chesterfield co Va for quit sometime now. I have read a lot of the old queries trying to educate myself on all the John's that are in the Bowles family. The only thing that baffles me is she named her son John "Anderson", so I am wondering does that really mean anything. I have searched several counties around my area but there is no other family close by. There is a William spelled Booles I think ?? in Wythe co VA but I have yet to find any relationship. William & his wife Polly listed themselves as being from North Carolina. There is a Hiram Boles listed on the 1842 Carroll co Va tax list. I have tried looking for John & Malinda Holtsclaw thinking is it this line of Bowles. If anybody has a copy of that marriage I would like to get a copy . I think the ? Bowles & Malinda Holtsclaw were in Kentucky from what I have read and searched, any suggestions or conversation shed on the subject would greatly be appreciated !! First thing to do is go to the URL provided in the posting: http://www.rootsweb.com/~obituary If it isn't there then you go to Google and find out what the newspaper's name is for Sherman, Texas. Then call or write to the newspaper to see if they still have it and can send it to you. If that fails, call the local library in Sherman, TX and ask them if they keep clippings of the obits for the city. It's a possibility that they could send you a copy. Good luck!
