He was born on May 27, 1926 at Grayride, Missouri a son to the late Lee Roy Kelly and Lucille Bowles Kelly. Johnny served two years in the United States Army. A couple of the medals he got were the World War II Victory Medal and the "Service" Medal with 2 Bronze Stars In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Eva Kelly; two sons Roy Glen Kelly, Johnny Kelly; daughter Sandra Sims; grandson Tommy Sims and brother Bud Kelly. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life are three daughters Barbara Lyon and husband George of Dixon, MO; Patricia Robertson and husband Charlie of Kirksville, MO; Dorothy Faulkner and husband Charley of Birch Tree, MO; brother E.W. Kelly and wife Peggy of Moscow Mills, MO; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Robertson, Robbie Foster, Codey Foster, Ryan Drexler, Charley Faulkner and Jason Stone. Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home. I have printed one family history and in the process of printing another. I only include information that has reliable so urces attached to them. I do extensive research and when there is something in question, I ask others to verify or help me out. That Bowles history by Farquhar has many errors in it. How fortunate we are to have so many records open to us for our research. Most county courthouses are great about letting you search for information. I believe you can use someone elses research as a starting point but always verify each step in their history. In my Hill line, someone started attaching an Abner Hill to my gr-gr-gr grandfather and dna testing proved this to be incorrect but there are still literally 100's of people that won't change their records even though I have definitive proof of Abner not being his father. So do your own research and then see if anyone out there dips into your tree and contact them. Compare notes and sources and work from there. But don't ever just use someone elses research and take it at being the truth without verifying every part of it. Then it becomes a part of your reserch too. And always try to contact the person to make a connection. Just a thought from someone who loves genealogy and my family history. Born in Yadkin County on March 24, 1972, he was a son of Judy Dickens of Hamptonville and Billy Michaels of Yadkinville. Danny was employed with Shelton' s Heating & Cooling in Mocksville. He enjoyed puzzles, racing, NASCAR and dearly loved his girls. He was preceded in death by his Step Father, Mr. Jason Dickens, his Maternal Grandfather, Mr. J.D. Underwood and his Paternal Grandparents, Bonson and Lucille Mickles. On June 20, 1998, he married the former Suzanne Burris who survives. Also surviving are his two daughters, Madison and Piper Michaels, his father and step mother, Billy and Debbie Michaels of Yadkinville, his mother, Judy Dickens of Hamptonville, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adrian and Karen Macias of Supply, N.C., a brother, S. Dale Michaels of Supply, N.C., a sister, Temple L. Kellerman and her husband, Bryan of Winston-Sale! m, his maternal Grandmother and her husband, Betty and Billy Wyatt of East Bend, N.C., two step sisters, Tina Engebretson and her husband, Mike of East Bend and Rebecca Dickens of Atlanta, Ga. and a step brother, Billy Sapp and his wife, April of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are aunts and uncles: Bonnie Hutchins (David), Bobby Mickles (Wanda), Denny Mickles (Linda), Linda Gail Lafferty (David), Ruth Stewart (David), Edith LeVan (Buddy), Shirley Winebarger (Roger), and Sarah and Joey Boles. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services commending Danny' s spirit back to God who gave it will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, at Hanes Grove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mac Warren and Rev. J. Lane Levan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until service time at the church prior. At other times they will assemble at the residence of his mother, Judy Dickens at 1816 U. S. 21 Hwy. Hamptonvill! e. A gathering and meal will follow the burial at the church.
