Looking for descendants of the following people for the purpose of locating a male Bowles descendant of Thomas and Susan (Angle) Bowles: Harry Theodore Bowles who was born 5 May 1907 in Nebraska and died in 1981 in Orange County, California. He married Isabell Marie Behm. He was a son of Jacob Angle Bowles. Oscar T. Bowles who was born about 1898 in Nebraska and died in 1960 there. He married Josephine Stuben. He was a brother of Harry Theodore Bowles. Irving James "Jimmy" Bowles who was born in 1925, probably in Colorado, and died in 1999 in Idaho. According to one report he was married to Mary Beth Thompson. He was a son of Flavius J. Bowles, and a grandson of Daniel M. and Zellah (McKerral) Bowles. Ralph McKerral Bowles who was born in 1885 and died in 1961. He married Carrie M. Brown. He was a son of Daniel and Zellah Bowles. Daniel M. Bowles who married Tracey Leatha Steak. This Daniel was born in 1902 and died in 1990 in Arvada, Colorado. He was also a son of Daniel and Zellah Bowles. Edward R. Bowles who was born about 1924 in Colorado to Thomas and Dorothea Bowles. Harry R. Bowles (perhaps Horace at birth) was born in 1899 to Luther M. and Adelina (Harvey) Bowles. Harry died in Spokane, Washington in 1983. He was married to Edna Garver Holmes in 1929 in Idaho. Any other descendant of Thomas and Susan (Angle) Bowles. My guess is Nancy Power Reid must be deceased and this is another daughter. This daughter might not have married. If these are all children of David Reid, it looks something like this: Catherine Unknown Female Mary "Polly" Alexander Henrietta Unknown Male David? Unknown Male Making 7 heirs and perhaps there was another child who married out prior to the 1830 census to make the 8. A lot of guesses! Also Just Passing along this additional info... In the Deaths Prior to 1911 (NCGR) book the first article is The Holy Bible of John Ambrose Cissell, bought on June 24, 1862. There are a few Reid entries. The very first listed is: Alexander Reid born 1804 and died September the 6th 1878 Then- Howard Reid born December the 4th 1875 and died January the 19th 1887 after being taken sick - 7 weeks Hillary Cissell died Sep the 3rd 1878 about 4 o'clock a.m. and buried at Holy Cross Church on the 4th about 12 o'clock a.m. A very large crowd attended this funeral. (I assume this is husband of Henrietta Reid?) Old Mary (Polly) Reid died December the 27, 1876 and born 1786 John D. Read and Missouri Cissell married October the 28th 1861 G.W. Read married Ann Luvina Cissell July the 8th 1866

Leon Journal-Reporter May 6, 2009 "Citizens of Grand River and Richland Townships Honor Former Schools" "A group of interested families got together to help establish original sites of the country school in the townships of Grand River and Richland last weekend. A special sign with either a picture of the original school or a general school picture were placed on the signs and then posted in front of all 14 sites where the schools once stood or are still standing. Those helping erect the signs on Saturday, May 2, were Craig Stogdill, Pattie Jimmerson, Lori Kelley, Terry Boles, Mandi Stogdill, Tyson Smith, Jesse Stogdill and Jake Stuck. Signs were placed on the following sites or will be placed at the site when complete. Richland Township schools: 1-Brick (moved to G.R. for museum); 2-Glenwood/Conwell, Cashen/Chew; 3-Dunham/Denham; 4-Daughton; 5-Comstock; 6-Foland; 8-Westerville. Grand River Township schools: 1-Jefferson/Funktown; 2-West Elk; 3-Centennial; 4-Elk Union; 5-East Elk; 6-Center; 7-Diamond; 8-Welcome. Others that will be placed are Grand River town: 1-FirstSchool; 2-Tin School; 3-Third School. five more will be placed in Grand River Township and then in the town. In the school photo of Elk Union on the sign, there seems a little added mystery of a possible apparition coming out of the door of the school. Farquhar's book is known to be flawed. Don't accept it without doing your own verification. Well, that is a good idea for anything you find in publication.
