I've "rescued" an old photograph of Ray Augustus ROPES which was taken sometime in the 1870's or 1880's with Ray appearing to be about 9 years old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to recover the following information regarding Ray and his family: Ray Augustus or Augustine ROPES was b. 3 Feb 1871 in Eldorado, IA to parents Benjamin Augustus or Hardy ROPES (1814-1884) and Mary A. TRACY (1836-1879). Benjamin was married previously and had 5 additional children including, Emma Amanda; Elson Benjamin; George Francis; William Bowers; and Walter Pushee ROPES, all born between 1839 and 1856. Ray died 25 Apr 1888 in Boston, MA and is buried in the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. He is buried in the CLARKE Family plot including members of the CLARKE, BOWERS, ROPES, and FOX Families. I am hoping to locate someone from this ROPES Family so that the photograph can be returned to its rightful place, with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
