I've "rescued" an old photograph of E. W. HARRIS which was taken at the Hope & Bros. Studio in Shawneetown, MO sometime in the 1880's when he was in his teens. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Emery Walker HARRIS who I believe appears in this photograph: Emery Walker HARRIS was b. 9 Apr 1872 in Oak Ridge, MO to parents Oliver Shelby HARRIS (1842-1887) and Cora Celeste HOWARD (1850-1927). Emery had three siblings, Lily Lola (1866-1867); Willie Jane (1868-1933); and Ida J. HARRIS (1882-1940). Emery married Idona Bell MCLANE (1871-1957 the dau of James Winslow MCLANE and Rachel C. JOHNSTON) and together they had a son, Dr. Clarence Pinkney HARRIS Sr. (1894-1959); and a daughter, Mabel Octavia HARRIS BOWERS (1895-1979). Emery died 14 Jul 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO and he is buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Census records include the following information: 1880 census of Apple Creek, MO: Oliver S.
