    1. [BOWERS] Roll Call: Jacob Bowers (1864 IN--1936 AR)

    3. Can someone help me before I give up on my husband's Bowers line? I would like to communicate with anyone who has Bowers connections 1870--1880 in KNOX County, IN. Jacob Bowers (March 3, 1864--June 23, 1936) was born in Indiana. He had two full siblings: William (1865--1838) and Emma, born December 25, 1870 in Knox Co. IN and died in 1943 in Daviess Co., IN. Emma married William Bentle in Knox Co. The parents of the three are not known for sure--but Emma's death certificate indicates that her parents were Henry Bowers and Elizabeth Goodman. The mother of the three died before 1880 when census records reveal that Emma was living with the Elias Like family. A Henry Bowers who worked as a field hand was found in Knox County, Indiana in 1880 census records. As teenagers, Jacob and William went to Clay County, AR where they married and reared families. Their father remarried and had a son named George. However, their father had died by the mid-1880's. By 1900, George was also in Arkansas. Some census records indicate that Jacob's father was born in Indiana; others indicate that he was born in Georgia. Jacob married Lucy Forbes and had the following children: J. W., Dan, Fred, Emma, Delcie, Rose, Earl, and Everett. Any help in what seems to be a lost cause will be appreciated. Carolyn Bowers [email protected]
