Hello, A while back on The ShipsList there was a discussion about what could have driven people to undertake such dangerous voyages in which many, especially children and old people died.I began to wonder. I have so often heard my ancestors were driven out of France into England and out of England and Ireland to the New World because of religious persecution, yet it suddenly seemed so vague a term. In searching to understand what my ancestors may have gone through I came across a remarkable site that answered my questions and has a huge wealth of material to aquaint anyone with the circumstances our early ancestors faced. It's called: "The American Colonist's Library" "A Treasury of Primary Documents" and it's at: http://www.universitylake.org/primarysources.html It's fascinating to read historical documents, I think that's part of the lure of tracking down our bloodlines.I think anyone interested in genealogy has at least some interest in history and this is certainly a point of crossing between the two.
