    3. Donna, Thanks for the news about the census. I hope all's going well for you and the rest of this group. They won't have it available, however, until mid-April of 2012. It's to be released April 2. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BOWERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hello Gary, Our Bowers list has been very quiet but I'm glad to know people are still on it and might possibly find a family connection. I haven't been working too much on my Bowers surname so am still at my brick wall: Jeremiah Bowers b. 1768 VA...but where in VA? I find the most similarity in names in Norfolk Co. VA. I can't find any records actually pinpointing relationship. I was able to have a relative do a DNA test through FTDNA and found no connection there either. Seems there are many Bowers with a different DNA besides our line. In NC, my Bowers were in Nash Co. just across the county line from Giles Bowers in Franklin Co. One would have suspected some connection living that close, but alas, no connection per DNA. Perhaps as more Bowers test, a connection might appear....or I have a hiccup some where in the line, or the lab made a mistake. That IS a possibility and I would love to have someone in the line further back do the test to confirm the DNA. Many are concerned about DNA testing, however, and some lines are facing males dying out. The nice thing about the 1940 census is we can find where our parents and grandparents were living and maybe some details we didn't know.
