    3. Gary & List, Bartlett Deans Bowers m. Mary Mahaffey in 1823 in Wilson Co., TN. They moved to Yaloubusha Co. MS around 1837. They were in the 1840 census and thereafter in the surrounding counties as the county lines changed around their land (Carroll, Grenada, Montgomery). Bartlett's parents were Jeremiah Bowers b. 1768 VA and Margaret Eason b. 1782 Nash Co., NC. There are many Bowers in Wilson Co. area as well as in Davidson Co. and Montgomery Co., TN. To date, the Bowers in DAvidson Co and Montgomery Co. are not related to mine....not unless its several generations further back from Jeremiah with the exception of John Bowers d. 1803. His will was proven in court by Jeremiah but the relationship is not known at this time...might be father or brother. There are many Bowers of Wilson Co. that I have not been able to link to mine but feel there was some relationship. I've done a lot of research in NC, TN, and MS and always hoping to discover someone who ties into this line or who has info on the "mystery" people in these areas who either are related or should be eliminated from further study. Hence my question regarding Lemuel Bowers of Attala Co. MS and if anyone has any further information on him. I'm not sure who Lemuel's parents were. It's possible he descends from one of the Davidson Co., TN Bowers, some of which go back to NJ. It would be great to find someone else working on MS Bowers! Below is some further information on Bartlett's family. Bartlett Bowers and Mary Mahaffey's children: 1. Unknown male child b. abt. 1825 in TN 2. Alfred Maxey Bowers b. Oct 3, 1829 in TN 3. Mildred N. Bowers b. 1833 in TN 4. Jeremiah M. Bowers b. Nov 1835 in TN 5. George Robert Bowers b. March 15, 1837 in TN 6. Matilda Ann Bowers b. Dec 17, 1839 in MS 7. Elizabeth Bowers b. 1842 in MS Alfred and George went to Dallas Co. (Dallas) TX after the Civil War.
