    2. Donna (Bowers) Hinson
    3. Bill, I did not mention a Lemuel in this note. Are you referring to another note? However, there was a Lemuel in Davidson Co., TN and also another in Wilson Co., TN, just east of Davidson Co. They are two different Lemuel's. Is the Davidson Co., TN Lemuel, your Lemuel? Or the Wilson Co. Lemuel? Let me know. Do you know a male Bowers descendant who would join the DNA group? We need to figure out these Middle TN Bowers! I have some info on Lemuel Bowers of Wilson Co. TN also. I have been unable to connect any of them to my Bowers who also lived in Wilson Co. TN. Are we all cousins? I think DNA is the only way we will ever know if they're all connected or not. Donna wstaggs189@aol.com wrote: > Donna Hinson,? That is my Lemuel. 1. [BOWERS] Bowers in AR
    2. Donna (Bowers) Hinson
    3. I am looking for more information or descendants of a Johnson Bowers who was in Hempstead and Sevier Counties AR as follows: Listed on the 1840 census, Hempstead Co., AR, Pg 169 2 male children 5-10, 1 male 30-40 1 female under 5, 1 female 20-30. Next in the 1850 census, Sevier Co. Johnson Bowers, Age 52, (b. 1798) Farmer, b. NC Lavinia, age 24, b. AR Ginsey, age 12, b. TX George, age 8, b. AR I think Lavinia may be a 2nd wife and perhaps the first wife d. in childbirth. Also found a BLM Land Patent record showing Wright J. Bowers, where two others are assingees of his, for land in Hempstead Co., AR in 1843. A Johnson Bowers was at the estate sale for Nancy Bowers in 1815, Wilson Co., TN. Nancy m. (1) Samuel Eason Jr. and (2) Maxwell Bowers c. 1797. Nancy and Max had 3 children, Wright J. Bowers probably born c. 1798, Elizabeth and Rachel. Johnson Bowers of AR may possibly be their son. Anything look familiar or anyone have any further information? Donna

    3. Tom, Congratulations! If you haven't already, you might consider posting your line from Charles Lloyd Bowers down with birth dates and places (but not those still living to protect their privacy). Maybe someone else will recognize they're related to him and you can fill in the children's names you are missing. What a wonderful find. We definitely have a surname list full of helpful people. 3. Thank you!! Thank you for posting as Lloyd Bowers is a grandfathers line and have been researching for years. I have most of the info shown but what a find for my family. Nobody else need try to purchase as I bought it outright, no bid - - - much too important to do otherwise. The reference to Charles Lloyd Bowers is new to me as I have always believed he was Lloyd (only). He is thought to be the son of Henry Bowers (of Swanesa. Ma) and It may well be that his full name is Charles Lloyd Bowers but he went by the name Lloyd only, the Charles being dropped for everyday use. He was ships owner and Captain of the "Three Sisters" at the time of his death (the ship and it's cargo were sold in Baltimore). I knew he had died (of fever) in Haiti (returning to MA from the Indies with a cargo of sugar) but not much else. What I don't know is if he is buried in Haiti or MA, or elsewhere for that matter as there are strong indications that the family had moved to Baltimore (son Henry was a resident of this city). His (Lloyd's) daughter, Hannah Cushing Bowers, married a Samuel Cooper. Lloyd had at least six children but I have the names of just three. If anyone out there is connected to this family would really like to hear from you!! I will probably be awake all night.......Christmas in August!!!! 1. [BOWERS] Dorothy BOWERS obit
    2. FYI There was an obit for a Dorothy E. BOWERS of Portsmouth, New Hampshire in our local Santa Barbara (California) News-Press on August 12th. She died here in Santa Barbara one day shy of her 82nd birthday (date of death was July 21). She also was in Lakeland Florida for quite awhile before coming to Santa Barbara. It appears from the article that she is a Bowers by marriage - but in case there is family interested - either I can help copy the obit or maybe it is on the web or the newspaper site. It did say that her son, who predeceased her in 1998 at age 45, was a Ralph E. BOWERS, Hope this helps someone. I also saw the roll call. I have been out of the country - but hope to get something up on my BOWERS in the next week or so. 3. This is my first time posting to this site.  My g-uncle did DNA and we did not match anyone.    My gg grandfather-Henry Franklin Bowers b: 7 Feb 1872 in Haysville, Clay County, NC married Laura Locklear in Fort Payne, AL on 14 July 1917; died 28 Mar 1952 in Trion, GA.    Henry's father was James C Bowers b: abt 1832 in NC; m abt 1870 to Nancy Sexton b: abt 1853; died 02 Aug 1888 in Fort Payne AL.  He joined the 39th NC infantry in 1861.  James is buried with his brothers, Thomas Jefferson and Anthony C Bowers at the old City Cemetery in Fort Payne, AL.   I believe that James' father is Thomas Bowers (by census research) b: Abt 1793 in VA and died aft 1870.  Mother:  Mary b: abt 1818 and died after 1870 (1870 Cocke county, TN census).   Any information would be appreciated concerning these Bowers'.   Thank you.

Why don't we do a roll call. We have done one in a number of years. I'm not sure who is left on the list as it's been very quiet for some time. I have been posting variious web sites, etc., but have not seen too many others posting Would someone like to start off by posting their line or their brick wall? 3. John Wesley Bowers was possibly born Florida.  His parents were Edward and Rebecca.   John Wesley Bowers son, Patrick Henry Bowers states that John Wesley Bowers was born in Ireland.  However I have never been able to find truth to that.  That is on the top of my priority list with John Wesley Bowers.  - Nicole --- On Sun, 7/27/08, D.
